Accounts Commission

Shetland hearing

At its meeting on 13 May 2010, the Accounts Commission considered and accepted a report from the Controller of Audit on Shetland Islands Council. View the Controller of Audit report here.

The Commission decided to hold a public hearing to gain a greater understanding of the situation at Shetland Islands Council.

A hearing is a formal process organised and led by the Accounts Commission. Its primary purpose is to assist the Commission to make findings by listening to appropriate evidence.

The hearing was held in public, on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 June in Lerwick Town Hall. At the hearing, a panel of Commission members heard evidence first hand from the council and other parties.

The Commission has now published its findings here.
