Performance audit standards

The Performance Audit Standards aim to underpin performance audit work across Public Reporting Group.

The standards are intended to provide a summary of good practice for overarching project issues, such as quality assurance; and for specific project stages, such as writing and delivering reports.

The standards - which complement the Project Management Framework and Performance Audit Manual - clearly set out the expectations for all projects and will be used to hold staff to account for delivery to time, cost and quality.

These two new leaflets produced by Audit Scotland and Public Concern at Work are aimed at all those working in the Scottish public sector. Both leaflets outline whistleblowing legislation, with one focusing on how and why employees should raise concerns about potential fraud and corruption. The other leaflet is designed for managers and looks at why organisations need to have accessible whistleblowing policies in place. Both leaflets also contain advice and useful contact details.

We have published our three-year corporate plan for 2004/07. This sets out our priorities for the coming years. We will be focussing on producing a modernised, risk-based audit across all sectors, and a new Best Value audit for local authorities.
