Benefits at Audit Scotland
A rewarding role
The very work we undertake here at Audit Scotland can make a real difference to the way public services are delivered across Scotland, thus we have the ability to substantially affect the lives of Scottish people as a whole. Why not have a look at our main publications site to see the scope and impact our projects have had in areas such as education, health, central or local government.
Financial reward
Salaries are reviewed every April and all staff receive a cost of living award. Unless you have already reached the top of your salary range for the role you will also receive a further incremental pay rise. This 'step-by-step' pay award system is widespread throughout local government in Scotland. The salary range for our vacancies are clearly shown on the appropriate web page giving details of the job.
Travel allowance or lease car
Roles at or above our pay grade E receive either a travel allowance or lease car. This is clearly shown on the appropriate web page giving details of a job opportunity. Our lease car scheme enables the user to choose their preferred car over and above the base car, with an additional contribution payable if this option is taken. Other terms and conditions apply, full details of which are available during the recruitment process.
Holidays
You will receive 25 days leave in each year together with a further 12 public/general holidays. If you have over 10 years qualifying service within the public sector your annual leave increases to 28 days.
Flexible working
Most staff are able to take advantage of our flexible working hours policy. This enables flexibility with regards your start and finish times and allows you to take flexi-days leave when you have accumulated enough time - up to 2 days per month, subject to business needs being met.
Audit Scotland also welcomes requests for other forms of flexible working and will seriously consider whether such working patterns can be accommodated. These include part-time, job share, annualised hours, term time working, short/long term secondments and fixed term opportunities. So if, for example, you need to care for dependents and thought it would be impossible to join Audit Scotland, we would very much like to hear from you with your proposals.
Pension scheme and life assurance
We offer a final salary pension scheme under the local authority government pension scheme. Your contribution of 6% of salary is supplemented by a contribution from us as your employer. You will also be assured by free life assurance at four times your pensionable salary.
Health screening
Audit Scotland will provide you with a free, confidential and regular health screening appointment with our external occupational health specialists. This optional benefit is available annually if you are over 50 years of age or every three years for those aged below 50.
Relocation
Certain roles may qualify for relocation support offering assistance across a comprehensive range of areas associated with your move.
