Senior auditor
"One of the best things about Audit Scotland is the people... there is a very strong team culture. "
I joined Audit Scotland in 2001 as a graduate trainee on Audit Scotland’s CIPFA scheme. It took me three and a half years to become fully CIPFA qualified. During this time I worked with a number of clients across the public sector, gaining valuable knowledge and experience.
In early 2005 I was promoted to my current post of Senior Auditor. I currently work in the Local Government Team within our Audit Services Group. The work itself is very varied and I like the fact that we tend to work on the same client(s) for at least a year which allows us to build our knowledge and understanding of their business and the issues they face. I also enjoy the wider remit of audit in the public sector which covers performance and governance in addition to the financial statements audit.
Over the past couple of years, the Audit Services Group has been developing its audit methodology. It has been an exciting and challenging time and we are now better placed than ever to deliver high quality audits and make a real contribution to both Audit Scotland’s corporate goals and the Scottish Public Sector.
One of the best things about Audit Scotland is the people. The staff are a great bunch and there is a very strong team culture.
If I had to sum up the past six years, I would describe them as challenging and very rewarding. I enjoy the work I do here - Audit Scotland is a very good organisation to work for.
